Dear Friends,
The wheels of hope were spinning with love and community spirit on Saturday,
April 19 at Creekside Fitness and Health Center. It happened because an outstanding
group of people designed an exciting community experience and made sure every detail
was perfect. It happened because Creekside Fitness and Health Center—our
Platinum Sponsor—shared its facilities and staff with our cause. It
happened because Compco, and Avrem Technologies, LLC—our Gold Sponsors—and
several other businesses also donated time and resources to help make sure
the event was the best it could be. It happened because 22 teams shared their
passion, energy, and time with area families who are caring for children with
cancer and chronic blood disorders and because people in the Mahoning Valley
care about children in the community and want to do what they can to make a
difference.
This amazing effort raised over $15,000 to help keep our Wheels of Hope program
on the road through the next several months. We have already delivered a new
batch of gas cards to the Children’s Care Center for Blood and Cancer and are
working on budgets for an upcoming caregiver training program and summer social
activities for patients and families.
Thanks to everyone who played a role in the event. Watching the wheels turn nonstop
for five hours and seeing so many people smile as they made the 100-mile ride sparked
my imagination and renewed my hope in what our community can accomplish.
